of the west shore, the Alpine Peak and Ward Creek subdivisions are
located about 5 miles from the lake in Blackwood Canyon. Property
in this area features seclusion, homeowners tennis courts and easy
access to the back of Alpine Meadows ski area.
Somewhat isolated and secluded, this area may not be for everyone,
however it is great for the wilderness enthusiast, mountain adventurer
or someone truly looking to just escape from it all.

Points of Interest:
The original idea for this area was for it to be an expansive resort
community. Picture a five mile gondola ride up the canyon from the
lake to a secluded luxurious resort with world class skiing access
to Alpine Meadows, Squaw Valley and 6 additional chairlifts extending
to the some of the most sought after and coveted terrain in Blackwood
Canyon, only accessible now by back country means.
With the introduction of the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency, this
development plan was never able to be realized due to the environmental
impact it inevitably would have on one of the largest watershed areas
feeding into Lake Tahoe.
Now, one can only imagine, while riding up the Sherwood Chairlift,
how this area might have been, good, bad or otherwise. |
