What better way to spend the day
than adrift on a boat in Lake Tahoe?

Many lakefront home owners benefit
from the use and ownership of buoys, piers, boat lifts or even boat
houses making watersports in Tahoe fun and easy. Other homeowners
and visitors, however, still have many opportunities to maintain
a boating lifestyle in the Lake Tahoe area.
Public Boat launching facilities can be found in Kings Beach and
Lake Forest on the North Shore and Sand Harbor on the East Shore.
There are other private marinas offering boat launching, fueling,
storage and much more.
If the speed and roaring of a motor is not what you are looking
for, there are a number of boating alternatives. Kayaking has become
a very popular way to get out and enjoy the lake. There are 3 North
Shore locations that offer kayak and kayak equipment sales and rentals.
A number of homeowners associations around the lake provide buoy
and pier access. Some of the more popular associations for waterfront
amenities are:
- Brockway Springs
- Agate Bay Beach and Sun Club
- Ridgewood Estates
- Cedar Flat
- Dollar Point
- Tahoe Woods
- Chamberlands
- Tahoe Cedars
- Rubicon Bay
and others
Condo Associations offering waterfront amenities
include:
- Brockway Springs
- Star Harbor
- Rocky Ridge
- Tavern Shores
- Tahoe Tavern
- Chinquapin
and others
Some TRPA standards for watercraft recreation on
the Lake are: Only the cleaner, direct fuel-injected two-stroke
engines are allowed to operate on the lakes in the Tahoe area for
the prevention of water pollution.
There is a 600 ft. no-wake zone (speed limit 5 mph) around the shoreline
of Lake Tahoe for minimizing the impact of noise generated by motor
boats and other watercraft on lakeside residents, visitors and wildlife.
