1981 was when SnowFest was first originated and has evolved into Tahoe’s premier spring event. The mission of SnowFest was to promote Tahoe’s incredible weather and skiing early in March, SnowFest provides fundraising for non-profit organizations in Tahoe, and to encourage tourism and the locals to enjoy Tahoe’s winter season at its finest.
This festival runs March 3, 2016 through March 13, 2016, This festival has approximately up to 100 events and is adding more everyday. Some of these events include, Ribfest, pancake breakfast, fireworks, dog sled pull, and bar games Olympics.
Opening ceremonies, and Queen coronation start March 3rd, 2016 at 5:00pm. The ceremonies is at Gar Wood, and the crowning of the Queen will take place along with live music, auction and more. The Snowfest Queen will receive a $500 scholarship, and each member of her court will receive $100 scholarship the day of their graduation. Following the opening events is the Pancake Breakfast and Ribfest for lunch. For adults there are events such as Bar Game Olympics, and Wine N’ Ice. During the last few days enjoy family events including going to the parades and being witness to contests such as the chili cook off, snow sculpture, and best dressed dog.
